Yes Shannon, it would appear that the heat exchanger is insufficient for the job at hand. It barely kept the engine cool (with no load) and by the end of the twenty minutes the temp gauge was showing 210 degrees Fahrenheit. So a bigger heat exchanger is the next agenda item.

No point in putting it in the water until that is fixed.

hey bob contact cassel marine they have kits for small and big block chevs ,and i think they sell the exchangers on there own
